Making Sense
Daily Ramble
Jet lag is real. I popped out of bed at 2 AM to a screaming child, lost in an unfamiliar room. Sorted out, I laid back down to discover that my mind was racing as if I’d downed my morning cup of coffee. It makes sense, though, since 2 AM PST is 10 AM Lisbon. But, of course, my head knew that but went in circles until just before sunrise trying to convince my body otherwise.
Tonight, I’ve got a new strategy. It starts with “v” and ends in “alerian.” Used since Greek and Roman times, European-native valerian has been used as a sedative to help people relax and sleep better. It also has the benefit of opening dreams if you enjoy sleep side entertainment like me. From travel experimentation, I find it knocks me out enough to adjust to my new time zone, but it doesn't offer the deepest of sleep. A nice compromise if you prefer better sleeping via plants instead of synthetics.
Speaking of synthetics, I don’t know how we’ve managed to convince ourselves that synthetics are better than what nature provides for us. But it’s true. Just look at how distrustful we are of our bodies. You know, the ones we were granted at birth, the result of millions of years of evolution. I mean, countless people had previously recovered from COVID and rushed to get a vaccine when they became available — just in case. Just in case of what? Just in case their bodies react worse the second time they’re exposed to COVID? I don’t know.
It doesn’t make sense to me. Especially since the latest data shows exactly what common sense would suggest: if you contract the delta virus after surviving previous covid infections, you’ll do much better than relying on a double vaccine jab. That’s right. A double jabbed person is 7x more likely to come down with COVID symptoms than someone unvaccinated who has recovered from a prior COVID infection. If you checked out the link (above), you’d notice that many folks quoted in the Fortune article seem genuinely shocked at the discovery. Despite COVID survivors having proved to themselves, through their lived experience, that they’re stronger than COVID, many still go on to get vaccinated. Say what?
The only way I can make sense of the decision is if people don’t trust their bodies. Like valerian has been pushed to the side for Ambien, naturally achieved immunity has been pushed aside for vaccines. Better living through chemistry! Because why trust the plants we’ve co-evolved with for hundreds of thousands of years when we have an 18 month-old vaccine technology never used on humans before? It makes sense to me!
Your Break from COVID Things on the Interwebs
Bitcoin Price Prediction
Yesterday: $48.6k - $51.6k
Today: $47.2k - $49.9k
Tomorrow: $46k - $51.6k
The fight continues unabated over the $49.3k resistance. Yesterday’s session closed right at $49.3k leaving a draw for both the bulls and bears, despite the bullish break above at the beginning of the session. At the moment, the bulls are looking to be pushing it back up, but there’s no clarity. I continue to be biased towards a bullish break above, but until it’s clear who wins the battle for $49.3k, I anticipate the price to chop around it. That’s why tomorrow’s prediction gives an extensive berth — once the price breaks decisively, I anticipate a punchy move.
Bitcoin Q & A
Q: When does El Salvador make Bitcoin legal tender?
A: September 7th, 2021.
Bitcoin will become legal tender alongside the US dollar in El Salvador on September 7th. It’s the first time any nation has made Bitcoin legal tender. To encourage the use of the monetary instrument, El Salvador is offering $30 in Bitcoin to each of its citizens. Despite condemnation by the IMF and World Bank, the El Salvadorian government has not changed its plan to offer Bitcoin as legal tender.
