Daily Ramble
“Are you excited to go to Miami?” Ana, my wife, asked me earlier today. Before being asked, I’d danced around that question with myself, trying to stay focused on living in the moment. Increasingly, the weight of travel back to the US, where I’ve not stepped foot in 18 months, has been bringing up mixed emotions.
On the one hand, there’s the sense of “knowingness” that comes from being back amongst the culture I’d grown up with. Let’s call that a tribal sense of belonging. Not that it’s safer, better, or more familiar than Portugal — it’s been five years of living here and a total of nine years since I left the comforts of American living. With a pandemic that’s stretched the 18 months gap to at least three years, I’m wondering if, like an old comfy, discarded pair of pants, I’ve grown too fat to fit into them again? Time will tell…
Past the question mark of fitting into the broader culture, I am excited to join the Bitcoin 2021 Conference. It’ll be the first time I’ve participated in a Bitcoin-only event of this scale. We’re still a scattered lot, with gatherings few and far between. Having the opportunity to meet and listen to luminaries I’ve learned from over the years is an exciting prospect. Despite pushing over $1T this year, the Bitcoin community continues to be amazingly accessible. I look forward to the connections, laughs, and relationships I develop as the community continues to break Bitcoin into the mainstream.
More exciting, and the reason for my travels will be to spend time with the team at Sazmining. It’s been several months of Zoom, Slack, WhatsApp, and email conversations. Call me old-fashioned, but I much prefer a handshake and shared laughter than a screen — I hope that never changes. I’ve grown fond of the team and get the sense that we’ve got fun challenges to take on as our funding round draws to a close. It’s been many and many a year since I’ve had the pleasure of working with a team again, and I suspect our time together in Miami will solidify work relations for years to come.
But the cherry on top is getting some family time. My mother, as mothers will, couldn’t pass up the opportunity, despite being on the other side of the continent, to see me while on US soil and started pestering me to extend my trip as soon as she heard. I’m glad she did. More than a year since seeing family from my side has been more than enough. And who could be better to see than your mother after all?
Of course, I didn’t get all that out in responding to my wife, but thankfully, I know she’s an avid Ramble reader.

Bitcoin Price Prediction
Yesterday: $52k - $58k
Today: $52k - $58k
Tomorrow: $52k - $60k
Chop chop chop. Bitcoin continues to consolidate in its happy home: $50k to $60k. At the moment, it’s bouncing around $55k — the infamous $1T market cap zone for Bitcoin. A break below $53k will likely see us head towards $51k in a hurry. A break above $58k will lead to $60k. Until either $53k or $58k break, it’s more chop and likely to lead to a smaller and smaller range.
Bitcoin Q & A
Q: I’ve read “Bitcoin fixes this.” What does that mean?
A: That Bitcoin fixes the problem.
In a world that has untethered itself from reality with its story of money, there is almost nothing that has not been impacted. From architecture built to sell mortgages, to people chasing dog money, to ludicrous valuations for tech companies, to mass planetary consumption, it’s hard to find a problem that won’t be impacted positively by switching society from dollars to Bitcoin as the world reserve currency. Bitcoin cannot be inflated, and inflation is the meta-problem facing society.
