On Fighting
Daily Ramble
The missus and I have been married almost 5 years now — a lot longer than I realized until I typed these words. Well, I suppose it could be argued three years since the first marriage was civil and transactional — pesky Portuguese immigration laws got in the way of letting our engagement process turn into a natural wedding date.
In 5 years, I’ve learned how to fight with the best of them from an expert trainer, my wife. I’ve heard many sage married couples say that successful fighting is a key to marriage, but like most bits of advice I receive, I dutifully ignored it. My wife didn’t though and she decided that I was such a wimp fighter that I needed to go to the Calisto training school, which we proceeded to train at daily for most of the first couple of years. Lately, I’ve become sufficiently good enough at fighting, that the training schedule has been toned down to once a month. Ana waits until she’s in peak form, which is typically 7-10 days before her menstruation cycle, to test my skills.
While there is most certainly a civilized way to fight, we prefer the more raw, uncivilized approach for the first round. That involves breaking dishes, kicking walls, and screaming obscenities. We really should tape our training exercises…I’m sure we’d have lots of new people wanting to join the school. After the uncivilized round, we get a bit more civilized and move on to ignoring one another. It’s safe to say that we can ignore each other with the best of them. I mean, really. We have gone a full month at a time without speaking to one another. The third round is my favorite — we had one of those today — it usually starts with a big hug followed by some loving conversation about being better together. And every time the third round ends, it feels great and I convince myself we don’t need more training. Maybe, just maybe, I’m the perfect fighter now.

Bitcoin Price Update
Yesterday’s price range prediction: $16.5k - $25k
Today’s price range prediction: $18k - $20k
Price did indeed get volatile yesterday moving from a high of $20k to a low of $18k before bouncing back sharply ending the day at $18.8k. Seeing buyers quickly step in on the pullback shows the market continues to be strong…but maybe not strong enough to break $20k. That leaves price trapped until one side or the other gives way. I anticipate sideways behavior for at least the next 24 hours if not a few days.
Bitcoin Ed Bite
The FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) around Bitcoin has evolved over the years. It’s been declared dead a mere 341 times, but who’s counting? The latest line of FUD is worth addressing though: sovereign threat.
Sovereign threat is the risk that nation-states ban or prohibit the use of Bitcoin. How realistic is this? Without a brute force shut down of the internet — worldwide — governments can make it illegal but cannot make it inaccessible. The few countries that have tried have resulted in higher priced Bitcoin in their country — no different than any illicit good. Second, Bitcoin has become adopted by many powerful and wealthy individuals. These are the people who most closely have the ears of the government and are most likely to get their way. Third, when these wealthy and powerful individuals start telling the government that they need to adopt Bitcoin rather than ignore it, you know it’s an uphill battle for an outright ban.
Could Bitcoin become more regulated? Absolutely and I’ll talk more about the ways that can happen in the next Bitcoin Ed Bite.
