Old World
Daily Ramble
Every so often I’m reminded that I’m in the Old World — (does anyone still use that language any more but history buffs)?
Walking to grab a coffee, which is shorthand for an espresso, I was looking for inspiration for today’s Ramble. Typically that comes out of the blue, but today it came on the twinkle of sheep bells and my dog, Sasha, barking. There, not more than a stone’s throw away, was the local pastor tending to his flock of sheep. Literally, not biblically. Sasha heeled, thankfully, so I didn’t have a heated pastor to contend with, but it got me to thinking while I sipped my tiny cup of jo.
Walking back to my home office, the crisp sunny day merged with the pastor tending his flock, munching on fresh grass, with the Palacio de Pena floating on the hilltop in the background. Inspiration discovered.
I wouldn’t call this shot remotely beautiful, but it successfully captured the moment for memory recall. At first, I thought the electric lines to be an eyesore, and to be fair, they are, but they’re also a potent reminder of the New World intruding on the Old World. Most of us now live most of our existence in the Online World, but not too long ago, there was a time when most of life surrounded the agrarian pursuits of the pastors and farmers who managed the land and paid tribute to the landholding kings and barons. Here in Sintra, that Old World still clings by its fingernails to the New World, and being able to still experience just a taste of it is one of the many reasons I count my blessings to call this place home.
Not to mention the tasty cheese the pastor makes and sells in the market.

Bitcoin Price Prediction
Yesterday: $30.8k - $38.3k
Today: $30.3k - $36.5k
Tomorrow: $30.3k - $40k
Yesterday, I was just off in predicting the price had found it’s low. The price dipped to $30.3k, $500 lower than I’d anticipated, only to bounce up as high as $36.5k as it attempts to pivot for another leg up in this enormous bull run. If the price can hold this range for the next day, which I believe is highly likely, then we will see Bitcoin begin to move up in price again. That means today, I don’t see the low from yesterday being taken, nor do I see the high set in the last 24 hours taken at $36.5k. Tomorrow, we could see the price begin to increase past this range though.
Before I leave the price discussion, I want to remind everyone of a potent fact: the price of a single bitcoin has increased by more than $21k since January 1. That’s more than a single bitcoin cost at any point in time until December 16, 2020. This bull run is going to be wild. Hold on.

Who decided what Bitcoin is?
I really like this question because it gets at the heart of something I wrote about yesterday: consensus. The truth is, that because Bitcoin is decentralized, there is no one able to speak for it. There are voices louder than others within the Bitcoin community but there is no marketing department that decides the official narrative for Bitcoin.
As a result, the narrative that most agree upon when defining Bitcoin is built on a decentralized consensus social agreement. More simply, it’s whatever the majority of people are stating at one point in time. Currently, that is “digital gold.” But as the community that holds Bitcoin increases and evolves, the narratively will as well, inevitably and organically. As proof, not too long again it was a “censorship-resistant form of payment” and while that is still true, it is not the dominant answer when the question of “What is Bitcoin?” comes up.
What will it be at the end of this cycle? Stay tuned…

Kent
