Truth
Daily Ramble
Triggered indeed. I’m not sure why anyone, myself included, writes something stupid like “trigger warning: ….”. If someone’s going to be triggered, they’re going to be triggered. A warning just absolves the writer of their guilt for knowingly stomping on someone else’s sensitivities ahead of time. Pretty chicken sh*t really. I won’t do it again.
But as I suspected, I did get a response from a buddy who thought yesterday’s Ramble on my vaccine position was anti-science. We talked it through and concluded no science was violated. The sensitivity was borne out from how quickly people are to ignore science when it conflicts with beliefs. That’s a serious problem. I have no idea how to fix it.
We live in a transformational moment where the arbiters of truth in our society are broken. The media and governments, our historical truth providers, have simply made too many mistakes to be trusted. Social media has worked impeccably well at distributing and twisting those errors to the masses. I do hope our arbiters of truth can be restored, but I’m unconvinced a top-down approach is the solution. I suspect the decentralized, grass-roots adoption of Bitcoin is the most likely solution, which I wrote about here.
Humanity without an anchoring source of truth leads to an unmoored society where the worst in humanity can come out. Until trust has been restored, it’s a wretched situation, but you’ve got to do the research yourself and come to your own conclusions. The scientific method is an incredibly powerful tool to use in this effort, but scientific consensus itself is dangerous. If we never pushed the boundaries of scientific consensus, we’d never have evolved past the “bad night airs” of the miasmatic scientific perspective to the germ theory of infection — and an awareness that the current pandemic comes from a virus.

There’s something about hearing the wind on Mars that finally makes it seem like a real place. Having been to the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, it’s also strikingly familiar.
Bitcoin Price Prediction
Yesterday: $34.6k - $38.9k
Today: $34.4k - $39k
Weekend: $34k - $42k
Well, nothing in Bitcoin price action has been a surprise as the predicted price range has born itself out. There’s not much more to add today that wasn’t said yesterday. To recap: we’re consolidating under resistance. The trend has shifted back to being bullish and I don’t see the lows at $34k being breached over the weekend. More likely is for the top of the range at $42k to be tested again. That said, I will be surprised if either $34k or $42k are broken before Monday.

Q: What does Bitcoin have to do with the separation of money and state?
A: Everything. It’s Big Idea Friday here:
Until the advent of Bitcoin asking someone about money was akin to asking a fish about water. It just was. But like a fish breaching water obtains an awareness of water itself, an understanding of Bitcoin obtains us an awareness of money itself.
The fundamental breakthrough with Bitcoin is its sitting outside the ability of any individual or group to alter it. For the first time in human history, there is an option for money that sits outside the power of government enforcement. Gold tried but ultimately failed when enough was acquired by governments to corner the market. Bitcoin was designed with this limitation in mind. Because Bitcoin is adopted in a free-market fashion, and is better than the existing fiat standard — and by better, I meaning having the monetary properties that magnetically attract humans — the inevitable result is an inability of the state to coerce humanity to accept its money.
Instead, governments will be forced to be at the service of their constituents in order to receive tax revenues. Most importantly, we stand on the cusp of the first monetary transition with the option to avoid war by opting out of fiat and into Bitcoin. Reducing our collective violence can only lead to reducing our collective fear and a blossoming of human creativity. Sounds pretty good to me.
